WANNY AND HENRY: HUNTING AND TRAPPING IN THE ARCTIC
Permanent exhibitionWANNY AND HENRY: HUNTING AND TRAPPING IN THE ARCTIC shows the story of this historical enterprise through Wanny Woldstad and Henry Rudi.
The permanent exhibitions of the Polar Museum have remained relatively
unaltered for a long time. We are happy to welcome you to a brand new exhibition about Norwegian
hunting and trapping in Svalbard and Greenland. WANNY AND HENRY: HUNTING AND
TRAPPING IN THE ARCTIC shows the story of this historical enterprise through
Wanny Woldstad and Henry Rudi. We follow them as polar-bear hunters,
dog-keepers and home-makers, from their hunting grounds into the public domain –
and beyond the limits of traditional gendered work.
The exhibition project on gender in the Arctic is based on the work of the
polar cultural researchers Lena Aarekol, Marit Anne Hauan and Anka Ryall, UiT
The Arctic University of Norway. Project manager/curator is Silje Gaupseth and
exhibition design is by Reibo AS.
The exhibition is funded by the Polar Museum and Troms County
Municipality.
