Nansen Professorship - CPS/WARPeD explore co-operation with Iceland
At the end of May, CPS and the WARPeD research group went on a study trip to Iceland to explore possible venues for future cooperation with the University of Akureyri and the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. The five-day trip was financed through the Nansen Professorship which is supported in part by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The week consisted of intensive meetings, brought together researchers from various disciplines, but also provided the chance to explore the breathtaking beauty of Icelandic nature.
This trip was instrumental to bring key scholars together to discuss common interests and possible synergies towards building research linkages. Our core intention to investigate possibilities to apply for H2020 financing together was very successful, and we are working on the next phase towards developing a concrete plan towards applications in 2019 or 2020." - Gunhild Hoogensen Gjørv - Current Nansen Professor

The Nansen Professorship at the University of Akureyri was established in 2011 between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Iceland and Norwary. The goal of the professorship at the University of Akureyri is to strengthen cooperation between Iceland and Norway in the field of Arctic scientific research.
