Job description

As a PhD student, I am exploring Sámi women's experiences with pregnancy and maternity care in Norway and midwives' experiences caring for Sámi women during childbirth. Through literature reviews and qualitative interviews, I am examining cultural safety, traditional birth practices, and healthcare adaptation, aiming for more equitable and culturally adapted maternity care.

    Research interests

My research focuses on Indigenous perspectives on women's health, pregnancy, and maternity care, with an emphasis on cultural safety, traditional birth practices, and the integration of Indigenous knowledge into healthcare systems. I examine how healthcare modernization impacts Indigenous birth traditions and explore ways to promote equitable, culturally responsive maternity care through qualitative research and Indigenous methodologies.
