UiT introduces automatic archiving in Panopto (All)

What's going on?

From Friday, December 5, automatic archiving of videos in Panopto will be turned on.

What does it mean that videos are archived?

Videos that have not been played in the last 24 months will be archived. These are still available, but it can take up to 48 hours to get a video back from the archive. Read more in this knowledge article.

NB: this does not apply to content in your user folder in Panopto (My Folder).

UiT turns on deletion of automated videos in Panopto one year after the end of the course (All)

What's going on?

From Friday November 28, automatic deletion of automated videos in Panopto will be turned on at UiT. 

What does deleting automated videos mean in practice?

When a course has ended, all automated recordings in that course will be deleted one year later. A new tag shows when the video will be deleted. This only applies to automated recordings from TP (Time scheduling system) and not, for example, videos you make in the office. This does not have retroactive effect on existing content. ❗Updated Eduroam wireless network Nov 24 - what to do? (All)

What's going on?

The certificate used for the eduroam wireless network will be replaced on Monday November 24 at 08:00-08:15 am. 

How will I notice it?

You will not notice the certificate change itself. The service will be available, BUT, if your eduroam connection has not been set up correctly, you may experience losing the connection after the certificate has been changed.

No network connection. What should I do?

• If you have a UiT-managed Windows PC:
  
  • Open File Explorer, go to C:\UiT-tools\Eduroam\EduroamCAT.exe, run the file EduroamCAT.exe and log in with your UiT user (you can do this without a network). See this User Guide on how to open File Explorer and start EduroamCAT.exe. 
  • Or you can choose "Forget/delete eduroam" and log in again. See User Guide for more information.
• If you have a UiT-managed Mac, the change will take place automatically. However, if you are not on UiT's eduroam wireless network, the download of the new certificate will stop:
  • Temporarily log in to a different network and the new certificate will be added automatically.
  • If you are at UNN, you can solve this by going to MH where the new eduroam certificate will be added automatically.
• If you have a privately owned PC or Mac:
  • Use e.g. mobile network or the uit-guest network. Go to https://cat.eduroam.org/ and click on the blue box where it says "Click here to download your eduroam(R) installer".

Why does this happen?

To maintain the security of the eduroam wireless network, the certificate for the service is updated every year.
