What's going on?
Microsoft is ending its support for Windows 10 PCs in 2025, which means these computers will no longer receive security updates.
How will I notice if my machine is affected?
If you have a UiT-operated/-owned office computer with Windows 10, it must be upgraded to Windows 11, replaced, or handed in for disposal.
If you have Windows 10 on your office computer, a notification (pop-up) will appear on your PC after February 17, see the image below. N.B.: If you receive this notification, contact IT support.
If you don't get a pop-up message on your computer, you don't need to do anything.
What happens if I ignore the notification?
Windows 10 PCs that are not upgraded, replaced, or handed in for disposal will be locked out of the network and will lose operational support.
If you for various reasons depend on having Windows 10 on your computer, contact IT support.
When does this happen?
From Monday, February 17, there will be a notification on Windows 10 PCs. The warning will appear once a week in the beginning, and intensify towards the summer.

We would like to remind you that in accordance with Ownership of and management of UiT's ICT equipment (in Norwegian), PCs and other IT equipment procured by UiT cannot be taken over for private use.

Hva skjer?
Microsoft avslutter sin støtte for PC-er med Windows 10 i 2025, noe som betyr at disse datamaskinene ikke lenger vil motta sikkerhetsoppdateringer.
Hvordan vil jeg merke om min maskin er berørt?
Har du en UiT-driftet/-eid kontormaskin med Windows 10, må den oppgraderes til Windows 11, byttes ut, eller leveres inn for avhending.
Hvis du har Windows 10 på din kontormaskin vil det dukke opp et varsel (pop-up) på din PC etter den 17. februar, se bildet nedenfor. NB: Dersom du mottar dette varselet, kontakt IT-brukerstøtte.
Om du ikke får en pop-up melding på din datamaskin trenger du ikke foreta deg noe.
Hva skjer hvis jeg ignorerer varselet?
Kontormaskiner med Windows 10 som ikke oppgraderes, byttes ut eller blir levert inn for avhending, vil bli utestengt fra nettverket og vil miste driftsstøtte.
Om du av ulike årsaker er avhengig av å ha Windows 10 på datamaskinen, ta kontakt med IT-brukerstøtte.
Når skjer dette?
Fra mandag 17. februar vil det komme varsel på Windows 10-PC-er om utfasingen. Varselet vil dukke opp én gang i uken i starten, og intensiveres fram mot sommeren.

Vi minner om at i henhold til Eierskap til og håndtering av UiTs IKT-utstyr kan ikke PC-er og annet IT-utstyr anskaffet av UiT overtas til privat bruk.
