Job description

I hold a master's degree in philosophy and a PhD in medical ethics. My research has focused particularly on physician ethics and the ethics of everyday clinical practice. Ethics is present in how physicians behave towards patients, how we communicate with patients and colleagues, and in all the decisions we make that have consequences for other people’s lives. I am currently engaged in a postdoctoral project funded by Northern Norway Regional Health Authority, in which I examine how ethical issues unfold inside the operating room.

Additionally, I am:

- teacher in medical ethics, primarily for medical students, with a central role in developing this teaching
- senior consultant and ophthalmologist at Finnmark Hospital Trust in Hammerfest
- deputy chair of The Medical Ethics Council of the Norwegian Medical Association
