Kristian Svendsen

Job description

Associate Professor Svendsen is involved primarily in projects related to rational use of medications. This includes a projectin using machine learning to predict hospital admissions using registry data such as pharmacy dispensing data as well as other projects. These projects include using data to study associations between medication use and carriership of different bacterias, studying factors related to hospital admissions in the elderly, how pharmacists in emergency departments can improve patient outcomes, as well as describing a COVID outbreak on a cruise ship using network analysis.

He is also involved in research on ADR data and have worked with both EudraVigilance and UMC data for spontaneous reports. We are also working on how these data sources can be integrated with prescribing information to provide additional information to clinicians, authorities and researchers. Key publications to this project is this publication about linking ADR and consumption data (with visualisation here) and this publication dealing with how to handle population scale pharmacoepidemiology data efficiently in collaboration with the department of informatics.
