Associate Professor in Coastal Ecology and Sustainability at the Department of Arctic and Marine Biology

Research interests

I am a marine ecologist interested in exploring how we can achieve sustainable development of coastal socio-ecological systems. My primary research areas include marine ecosystem ecology and ecosystem-based management. I investigate how anthropogenic pressures -such as climate change, fisheries and pollution- transform coastal ecosystems, aiming to identify sustainable strategies for ecosystem restoration.  I analyze large spatial datasets and time series to investigate human-nature interactions and to develop tools for ecosystem-based management. Working across disciplines, I collaborate with experts in social sciences, law, and economics to synthesize policy-relevant knowledge and address overarching questions related to sustainability.
