Job description

(updated on 23.03.2026)

I am a PhD candidate at the Computer Science Department at UiT, and a member of the Cyber Physical Systems group.

My PhD project studies the repeatability, reproducibility, and replicability in empirical experiments to evaluate the power draw and energy consumption of small computers, part of the Internet of Things.

Many works use average power measurements collected using experimental protocols, without studying these protocols. Unconsidered power variability can make results not repeatable and not replicable in the long run. Unreported experimental details can make results not reproducible. This can have a high impact on the studies. For instance, if energy consumption is not accurately characterized, systems in frugal deployments can be unavailable way ahead of their expected lifespan.

    Research interests

    (updated on 23.03.2026)

I work in the context of IoT and edge distributed systems, and the power and energy consumption of these systems.

I particularly focus on the potential variability in power and energy consumption, potential factors that can lead to inaccurate power and energy characterization, in prototyping, modeling, simulation, and real experiments.

Research findings highlight insights for repeatable, reproducible, and replicable studies, beyond what exists in the state of the art.
