Hilde Sollid
Job description
I am a professor of Nordic linguistics at the Department of Language and Culture. In my ongoing research on Living Arctic Colonialities, I explore (de)coloniality in various contexts, such as language policy regarding historical minorities (Sámi and Kven/Norwegian Finns) and the establishment of the Kvitfjell and Raudfjell wind farms on Sállir/Kvaløya. I am also involved in the ERC Advanced Grant project RiverPulse with Professor Sari Pietikäinen as PI. I am currently conducting ethnographic fieldwork on climate change and its impact on the relationships between the salmon, the river, and the community surrounding the Reisa River in Nordreisa.
I teach linguistics courses within the teacher education program for grades 8–13 (specializing in Norwegian studies) as well as in the BA and MA programs; these courses cover topics such as linguistic diversity in speech and writing, linguistic theory and method, Scandinavian studies and society, and multilingualism.
