Adele Westgård

Job description

Adele researches past climate change, with a focus on past warm periods in the Arctic. She is a postdoctoral researcher in the project i2B - into the Blue and is part of iC3 (Centre for ice, Cryosphere, Carbon and Climate) at the Department of Geosciences, UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

Her research involves development and application of methods to accurately reconstruct past climate variability in the polar regions. Her PhD work has provided a better understanding of the connections between ecology, geochemistry, and the environment, and how that can reflect past climate changes. Her work contributes to knowledge about the interconnections between the ocean, cryosphere, and climate, as well as how warmer climates impact the Arctic.

Adele holds a PhD in palaeoceanography and marine ecology from UiT. She actively engages in outreach of geoscience and climate science through various platforms, including activities with school classes, contributions to Arctic Frontiers’ "Science on Tap!" events, and more.
