Jan Viljanen
Job description
Viljanen has an extensive experience in applied optical spectroscopy, including Raman and LIBS techniques, and a strong background in inter-disciplinary research. He has worked in and led multiple laboratory- and full-scale industrial and environmental sensing projects where he has been responsible for the spectroscopy and field-capable prototype development. These include application and development of LIBS technique in varying applications from waste and ore sorting, to flame diagnostics and environmental applications. In 2024, he started at UiT as Postdoctoral Fellow with MSCA funding granted by European Research Executive. His current project is developing a Raman sensor for nutrient detection in glacial water systems.
