Hi there!
I am writing an article-based PhD on the evolution and governability of fisheries and aquaculture in light of the blue economy, a widely used political paradigm that views our ocean and coastal areas as spaces of opportunity for sustainable development. Ocean and coastal areas are, however, already under pressure from existing economic activities, and further exploitation of these areas therefore raises a number of issues that warrant careful examination. In brief, I study the relationship between how blue economy visions shape the governance of aquaculture and fisheries, and vice versa. More specifically, my project addresses the following questions:

1. How technological visions in salmon aquaculture challenge established governance arrangements
2. How fishers influence the development of offshore wind and offshore aquaculture
3. How it is possible to regulate a vision of co-location and multi-use at sea

For the 2026 autumn semester I am also teaching in SVF-3555 Marine Planning.
