Ole Bolås was born in 1968 and grew up on the countryside of Southern Norway. He started playing the piano at the age of 4, and held his debut recital in Oslo when he was 19. 1989-95 he studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, where his piano professors included Liv Glaser, Jens Harald Bratlie and Lazar Berman. He took his diploma (Master of Arts) degree in 1995 with the highest grade. In 1991 he was finalist in the “Robert Riefling memorial prize” in Oslo, celebrating Norway’s most famous pianist.
His performing career includes concerts in China, Poland, Germany, France, USA and Lithuania, and numerous performances in Oslo, Bergen (several recitals in the concert hall by Grieg’s home) and others in Norway, including solo recitals and chamber music, with some of Norway’s most celebrated performers, like Arve Tellefsen and Leif Ove Andsnes.

For more than 30 years he has also been a passionate advocate and performer of progressive rock, particularly of the 1970s era Genesis, with a special interest for the harmonic structures and distinctiveness of their works.
