Marit Waaseth
Job description
Marit Waaseth is associated with the Research Group in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology (IPSUM – Identify and Prevent Suboptimal Use of Medication) see IPSUM research group. IPSUM includes six scientific positions and one technical position (statistician). Additionally, a varying number of temporary positions (Post docs and PhD-students) and master students take part the IPSUM research projects.
The group members maintain close collaboration with the primary and secondary health service, other educational institutions and public agencies. By combining clinical pharmacy and pharmacoepidemiology, IPSUM focus on developing methods and knowledge that can promote optimal medication use, both on the individual and community level. The following themes are emphasized:
- Prescription and use of medication
- Medication information to patients
- Interdisciplinary collaboration in medical treatment
The research aims to illuminate associations between medication use and different outcomes, and include pharmacoepidemiological and statistical analyses of information from questionnaires, prescriptions, blood samples, clinical data, as well as linkage between such information and health registries. The position includes purposeful work to initiate, develop and support research projects that contribute to fulfil the IPSUM objectives and the prevailing faculty research strategy.
The teaching includes social/community pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, statistics, some topics related to pharmaceutical professional practice, as well as supervision of master students and PhD-students in the discipline. This entales participation in teaching and supervision assignments at all educational levels, as well as a duty to participate in the teaching of all students at the faculty if required. Teaching includes planning, organizing, conducting, examining, evaluating and developing whole courses and/or sub-topics. A broad spectre of teaching methods are used, from traditional lectures to web-based techniques.
Marit Waaseth is obliged to develop both the discipline and the university.
