Marte Christine Ørbo

Associate professor, specialist in clinical neuropsychology (NPF)

Job description

Associate professor in clinical neuropsychology

Specialist in clinical neuropsychology (Norwegian Psychological Association)

Research, supervision and teaching in clinical neuropsychology, health psychology and neuroscience

Supervisor for PhD students and PSY-2901

Ørbo is an experienced clinical neuropsychologist specializing in cognitive challenges across various age groups. With extensive expertise in both somatic and mental health care, she focuses her research on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with brain injuries and cognitive challenges. In 2016, Ørbo earned her PhD with a dissertation on the cognitive outcomes and quality of life following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in adults. Since 2019, she has been part of a research team investigating the application of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in treating depression, with a particular emphasis on its effects on cognition and brain function.

Her research interests include acquired brain injuries, neuroimaging, TMS as a treatment for depression, and the impact of physical activity on cognition. As an associate professor at UiT since 2019, Ørbo contributes actively to teaching and supervision within the professional psychology program. From 2020 to 2023, she led the neuropsychological component of the national theoretical qualification program for ELTE students. Her teaching philosophy centers on promoting high quality through student-active learning methods, ensuring alignment between learning objectives, teaching activities, and assessment, and providing continuous feedback throughout the learning process.
