Fulbright students and scholars: study and research opportunities at UiT

Thank you for choosing UiT The Arctic University of Norway as your Fulbright affiliation!

UiT offers many study options for US citizens as Fulbright scholars and students. We have a wide range of research projects, single modules and degree programmes taught in English and Norwegian, and the international environment in most of our research and higher education units are English fluent for a successful study or research visit.

Fulbright opportunity types

APPLY FOR SINGLE COURSES (INDEPENDENT STUDY)

As a recipeint of Fulbright grant to Norway, you may apply to single courses. Once nominated by the Fulbright coordinator at UiT, you will be registered and enroled at UiT as an exchange student. The maximum period for exchange studies at UiT is limited to maximum one academic year (i.e. two semesters). This applies regardless of whether there were two non-contiguous semesters.

Please note that application for exchange studies at UiT is handled by the Inbound Student Exchange Team at the International Cooperation Section. For questions or more information about the application process, please check the link below "HOW TO APPLY".

IMPORTNAT DATES:

  • Spring Semester: 15 SEPTEMBER (application start) - 31 OCTOBER (deadline).
  • Autumn Semester: 15 MARCH (application start) - 30 APRIL (deadline).

APPLY TO A GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMME

As a recipeint of Fulbright grant to Norway, you may apply to a full degree programme.

UiT offers various study programmes with English as the language of instruction. The admissions to full degree programmes at UiT are organised once a year and the application period runs from November to December each year.

Please note that applications to full degree studies at UiT are handled by the central Admission Office.

APPLY FOR INDEPENDANT RESEARCH

RESEARCH AT UiT

APPLY FOR RESEARCH OR STUDY AT UNIS (SVALBARD)

Fulbright students & scholars wanting to take single course modules or conduct research at UNIS may do so by arrangement with:

  1. Fulbright Coordinator at UiT: please send an email to mobility@uit.no.
  2. The University Centre in Svalbard: Please contact UNIS by email: study@unis.no OR checking their website for appropriate information about research and study: The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS)

Please MAKE SURE to mention UiT The Arctic University of Norway as your your host institution or affiliation in Norway in your application for research or study at UNIS.

Please MAKE SURE to inform us about any positive decision from UNIS by sending an email to mobility@uit.no.

The Inbound Student Exchange Team will register you as a student at UiT so that you can issue transcripts of record of the courses taken at UNIS after the completion of your stay at UNIS on Svalbard.
