Course contents
The laboratory course gives an introduction to sampling and preparation of pollen, light-microscopically pollen morphology and the use of pollen keys. The lectures deal with pollen production, pollen dispersal and sedimentation, sediment types, field- and laboratory techniques and other palaeoecological methods. An important aim of the course is to qualify students for a proper interpretation of pollen diagrams.
Language of instruction and examination
The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.
Teaching methods
Lectures 25 hours, laboratory training 30 hours and field training: 1-3 days.
Assessment methods
3h written examination (50 % of final mark), laboratory- and field reports (50 %). Letter grades, A-F.
