Type of course

Theoretical subject. The course is offered on condition that a minimum number of students register for the course.

Course contents

Overview of the diversity of large herbivore ecology, life history traits and population dynamics / Trophic interactions among large herbivore species, between plant and herbivores, between predators and herbivores / Conservation and Management

Objective of the course

To provide a comprehensive understanding of large herbivores role in the ecosystem, based on merging evolutionary, ecological and management perspectives

Language of instruction and examination

The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.

Teaching methods

The teaching will be based on lectures, discussion of recent papers or book chapters, and seminars.

Assessment methods

Individual reports on a topic chosen by students. Course requirements: student presentations.

There will not be arranged a re-sit exam for this course. Postponed examination will be arranged early in the next semester.
