Course contents
The course covers the following areas: - Financing: Training in complex practical analyses of financial needs and financial status of a venture. - Investment: Giving the students skills in how to make long-term estimations of return on investments, applied to the real innovation project. - Accounting: Providing skills in how to practice practical internal and external accounting of growth ventures based upon law and convention. - Product Costing: Determining the cost of supplying a product or service while utilizing methods such as standard costing, activity-based costing etc., as well as commonly used concepts in product costing. - Balanced Scorecard: Training in synthesizing financial and strategic information into a common frame of reference to make optimal venture decisions.
Objective of the course
The overal goal of the course is to give students applied knowledge in entrepreneurial finance. The course will enable the students to: - Show fluency in economic terminology regarding financial transactions, product costing, basic accounting and investments. - Demonstrate ability to analyze consequences from financial transactions and how they impact cash flow statements, balance sheets, company valuations, etc. - Communicate investment needs with regards to use of funds, IRR, ROI, discount rates etc - Convincingly present investment proposals and projected cash flows in business plans in ways that allows serious scrutinizing (i.e due diligence) of external actors such as a potential investor. Demonstrate ability to conduct due diligence on business plans others produced. - Understand how to utilize various external resources and competencies (i.e bookkeepers, accountants. etc.) while still assuring a strategic overview of the company’s financial needs resources and reporting. - Analyze and make decisions that benefit the over all interests of the venture

The course consists of a lecture series and case seminars
Assessment methods
Students will have assignments concerning developing models for entrepreneurial startups as well as a written exam.
