Marine bioprospecting and bioactive compounds for health
About the course
The Phd course in Marine bioprospecting and bioactive compounds for health is multidisciplinary. The themes will spend from biological resources in the ocean to characteristics of bioactive molecules with marine origin. Different methods used will be presented and discussed. It will be focus on processes of lead - development and use examples from peptides with bioactivity for health.
The workshop will focus on the peptides (pain relieve and antibiotic effect) and will also include demonstration of data simulation at the datalab at The Chemical Department by use of programs to changes peptide motives to be more active.

Teaching methods
Intensive course:
- lectures
- participation on the Bioprosp 2013 Conference (Tromsø 20th - 22nd of February) and the pre-conference workshop (WS3).
Class Fronter will be used as a common platform.

Assessment
A paper on a set subject.
The subject will be relevant for the course (can be a subject from the conference). Must be approved.
