Individual Special Curriculum - Master's Degree
About the course
Master course for biology students.
The course is not available as a singular course.
The course content will be tailored to the students and the supervisors’ field of interest. The course can have a theoretical or practical content, or a combination of the two.
The total workload should represent about 300 hours of work, including teaching activities, individual work and exam.
For a curriculum based on a literature review, one ECTS represents between 40-50 pages of scientific literature (more for textbooks).
Objectives of the course
This course will provide the student with a deeper understanding of a field of research defined by the student and supervisor.
The course should however not be used as part(s) of the master thesis (BIO-3950).
Teaching methods
Language of instruction and examination
The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.Examination

To be able to take the exam the student needs to fill-out an online form with information about the individual special curriculum. Information includes a subject title, a list of literature (e.g. articles, text books chapters etc.) and/or a detailed description of the practical work that will be conducted during the course and according to the expected workload (ECTS). This must be approved by the Department.
Deadline is March 1st for the Spring semester and October 1st for the autumn semester.

The oral presentation should be approx. 30 minutes and additional questions/discussions with the sensors.
The date of the exam is agreed upon by the supervisor, the external sensor and the student. Date of the exam must be after November 1st in the autumn semester and April 1st in the spring semester.
