Research interests
Russian contemporary culture, art and activism. Soviet and post-Soviet popular music. Sound studies. Industrial aesthetics. Concepts and portrayals of madness and the irrational in Russian literature. Russian and East-Slavonic politics and societies. Russian cultural and political relations with former Soviet republics and the Soviet past. Norwegian- Russian, Norwegian-Ukrainian, and Norwegian Belorusian relations and their representation in art and culture.
Teaching
Steinholt teaches courses in Culture, Literature, Media, History, and Politics on the BA- and MA-levels of Russian and Russian Studies programmes, and some shared courses. Current courses taught are: HIF-1014, RUS-1110, RUS-1115, RUS-2110/HIF-2110,HIF-3111, and RUS-3115 in the spring semester and RUS-1025, RUS-1210, RUS-2021 and HIS-3301 in the autumn semester. Course descriptions are found on the UiT website, but it is usually faster to google search the course code + UiT.
