Job description

Bjarne K. Jacobsen is a professor of epidemiology at the Department of Community Medicine. This includes research and teaching of descriptive and analytical epidemiology.

Research interests

The research is within the descriptive and analytical epidemiology of chronic diseases with some emphasis on cardiovascular diseases, but also many other non-communicable diseases (e.g., cancer, osteoporosis, mental distress and disorders). He has approximately 200 publications registered in PubMed.

Teaching

Bjarne K. Jacobsen has taught epidemiology in various graduate and post-graduate study programs, mainly at the University of Tromsø and supervised MPH-students and PhD-students (main supervisor for six PhD students and co-supervisor for another 8 PhD students who have defended their thesis and have also taken active part in supervision of several other PhD-students).
