Marit Waaseth
Job description
I am affiliated with IPSUM, the Research Group in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology (IPSUM – Identify and Prevent Suboptimal Use of Medication) see IPSUM research group.
IPSUM focuses on developing methods and knowledge that can promote optimal medication use on the individual and community level. The following themes are emphasized:
- Prescription and use of medication
- Medication information to patients
- Interdisciplinary collaboration in medical treatment
My research includes parmacoepidemiological and statistical analyses of data from population surveys and health registries, including registry linkage. Information from questionnaires, mediaction dispensations, clinical data, blood samples etc. is used to investigate associations between medication use and relevant outcomes. My two main focus areas are 1) medication adherence, analysing data from the Tromsø Study, and 2) menopausal hormone therapy, analysing data from the Norwegian Women and Cancer study (NOWAC).
I teach at all levels of the pharmacy education at UiT, but also a few subjects at other study programs at the Health faculty. My teaching includes social/community pharmacy, i.e., pharmacoepidemiology, statistics, some topics related to pharmaceutical professional practice, as well as supervision of master and PhD students in the discipline.
The 50 latest publications is shown on this page. See all publications in NVA here →
