Interdisciplinary Phenomenology

Phenomenology has been the most influential movement within continental philosophy ever since Husserl's phenomenological breakthrough in the early twentieth century. Phenomenology commits itself to what is given to experience - the phenomenon - as the starting point for understanding any perception or thought. New research explores the usefulness of using phenomenological methods to rethink assumption in disciplines like literature, medicine, anthropology, philosophy, theology, aesthetics and ecology, reconnecting scholarship in these fields with everyday life.

This research group focuses on phenomenological relevance for the development of the self in relation to others, embodiment, eco-phenomenology and hermeneutics as each of these relates to our scholarly disciplines. We work with the whole tradition of phenomenology but are especially engaged with contemporary developments in the field.

The group is committed to expanding our knowledge together through discussions of shared methodology and sharing works in progress. We stimulate new discoveries in our multiple disciplines through interdisciplinary conferences and international partnerships. We welcome new members and are proud to include participants from multiple disciplines and all levels of research, from masters students to full professors.
