Research interests
Bones conducts research on security policy and international relations in the High North and the Arctic. Examples of topics include relations between small states and great powers, espionage, subversion and influence operations, counterintelligence, resistance, polar politics, alliance policy, deterrence/reassurance, and how societies are coming to terms with the past. His research spans the period from the 1930s to the present day. Bones teaches and supervises on a range of topics related to Norwegian and international history in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
