Short summary:

This thesis presents theoretical and experimental studies of continuous stirred tank bioreactors (CSTBR) leading to develop mathematical models for simulating bioprocesses. Biochemical processes use enzymes or microorganisms, given an optimal environment for their growth within a bioreactor turn biomass into various products. Environmental conditions (pH, dilution rate, temperature, substrate concentration, etc.) simultaneously affect the process and output. Due to concurrent influence of these conditions, a slight variation in one condition affects the microbial growth and process may stall. Knowledge of the system parameters range beyond which the biosystem stops functioning is critical for bioreactors efficiency. The developed models were used for stability analysis and parametric sensitivity CSBTR processes used for producing ethanol and biohydrogen etc. The results demonstrate quantitative analyse CSTBRs operation and can help in selecting control strategies for safe and economical utilisation of CSTBRs. Obtained information contributes to the field of bioenergy, design and optimisation of bioreactors.
