The conference and workshop will be in person and online.
The inaugural Micro Arctic Climate Simulation conference and workshop will be held at the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge. 15-17 September 2025.
The conference will consider how to:
- Describe the needs and wishes of different user groups for spatial and temporal resolution in climate data;
- Co-create and implement methodologies for augmenting and enhancing existing methods of acquiring meteorological data (e.g. protocols for obtaining data from difficult-to-access areas);
- Validate and downscale climate response variables (e.g. vegetation, snow cover);
- Build locally dense descriptions of the environment (through community engagement and new tech, especially drones);
- Develop baseline technical standards for relevant simulation;
- Co-create interactive software;
- Support as requested and required.
The conference will consist of research presentations and development workshops. One day of the conference will be visits to related research hubs in Cambridge.
