Press Release: The video of Ocean Senses in Mato Grosso is out!

We are thrilled to announce the final project result of the collaboration between the Akma 2 Ocean Senses project, led by Giuliana Panieri, and the ECO_CARE project, under the guidance of Margherita Paola Poto. This transformative partnership showcases their work on ocean literacy, conducted hand in hand with the Chiquitano villages of Mato Grosso, coordinated by Giulia Parola.

The joint efforts contributed to fostering ocean literacy, water and environmental awareness among children and teachers in the region. By immersing participants in the captivating learning toolkit of Ocean Senses, the children and teachers were empowered to observe and understand the mesmerizing world of foraminifera, while drawing thoughtful comparisons between rivers and seas.

The interactive engagement with the learning toolkit led to the development of remarkable project results, emphasizing the immense impact of ocean literacy on communities. The initiative demonstrated how fostering ocean literacy can open doors to greater understanding, appreciation, and preservation of our precious marine ecosystems.

Funded by UiT The Arctic University of Norway, the NRC, and HKDIR, this collaboration represents a significant step towards empowering coastal communities through knowledge and bridging cultural gaps to nurture ecological awareness.

Join us in celebrating the strides made in ocean literacy, as we look forward to further empowering communities in our planned activities in September 2023 (which include a midterm conference in Brazil and Norway) and creating a wave of positive change in ocean and water stewardship.
