UiT The Arctic University of Norway took part in the SCABEAC Summit 2025.

Sofija Kekez-Baran, a member of a DeTeA research group, and Leif-Gunnar Hanssen participated in SCABEAC Summit 2025 from August 12-14 2025 in Oulu, Finland. The final SCABEAC meeting gathered various stakeholders from academia and construction industry in the Arctic. Participants from Finland, Sweden and Norway explored how to strengthen Arctic construction.

Sofija Kekez-Baran presented the topic of circular construction in the Arctic region, while Leif-Gunnar Hanssen participated in a panel discussion on green concrete and geopolymer that addressed challenges such as the need for internal dialog in the concrete sector and the demand for cooperation between research, industry, and policymakers for circular construction.

The Summit held a speed dating event for business delegates, research community members, and policymakers, followed by several presentations of companies which bring innovation and development in construction. The event was concluded with a presentation and a group visit to the Oulu Housing Fair 2025 (https://www.ouka.fi/en/oulu-housing-fair-2025-event) in an up-and-coming neighborhood Hartaanselänranta, showcasing the latest trends of housing and small house and apartment house building, smart solutions, and an everyday communal way of living.

A special stop in the tour was the visit of OloSauna – modern village sauna rooted in Finnish tradition that welcomes everyone just like traditional saunas have brought communities together for generations. (https://www.olosauna.fi/en/home/)
