UNESCO Biosphere reserves in Norway - status and future strategy

The UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program supports biodiversity conservation through the establishment of Biosphere Reserves. What will be next such initiative in Norway and how can UiT support biosphere reserve candidates?
The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme is UNESCO’s leading initiative in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development by enhancing the relationship between people and their environments. It hosts a global network of biosphere reserves and encourages states to establish more. In Norway there is as of yet only one biosphere reserve (Nord-Hordaland). In this meeting we will hear from Lofoten who is running to be a candidate. One of the requirements to become a candidate is to establish cooperation with science. How can we at UiT support the Lofoten candidacy and other future candidates for biosphere reserves in Norway?
Program:
Welcome and short introduction by Camilla Brattland, member of the MAB committee in Norway
Presentation by LOVE Utvikling on their work to nominate Lofoten as a biosphere reserve candidate, by Ørjan Arntzen and Ingrid Marie Kjelseth
Open discussion with participants and future steps
