UArctic

Welcome to the next Environmental Humanities World Café, led by Sonja Irene Åman from the University of Oslo and hosted by the UArctic Environmental Humanities Thematic Network.

The theme for this World Café is proximity in Arctic research. Please read the introductory chapter “Staying Proximate” to the 2024 edited volume Researching with Proximity: Relational methodologies for the Anthropocene (attached).
Here are some initial questions to lead our conversation but, as always, the discussion is open and flexible so together we can think beyond these questions:
  • What does proximity look like in your research?
  • Does the concept of proximity or ‘staying proximate’ help you think about research?
  • When and why is proximity challenging?
Bring your beverage of choice, your curiousity, and most importantly, yourself.
