Title of presentation: Norwegian marine fungi as a source for new antibacterial compounds
Abstract:
Biological diversity, including microorganisms such as fungi, is the major source of new antibacterial compounds that are critical for keeping control of resistant and emerging human pathogenic bacteria. The majority of global fungal diversity remains uncharacterized and inaccessible for bioprospecting efforts. Moreover, this diversity is likely declining as the result of the ongoing nature loss. This talk summarizes the efforts to find new antibacterials in previously unstudied marine fungi and presents recent results obtained at UiT.
