Course content

Introduction to smooth manifolds, vector and tensor fields, Lie derivative and differential forms.

Recommended prerequisites

MAT-1003 Calculus 3, MAT-1020 Linear algebra, MAT-1030 Vector Calculus

Objectives of the course

The candidate shall:

  • obtain a solid knowledge and understanding of smooth manifolds, vector and tensor fields, Lie derivative and differential forms
  • be able to perform calculations in concrete examples, using these concepts

Language of instruction and examination

The language of instruction and the syllabus is English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.
