Mireia Nager

Job description

I hold a PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Lleida, where I investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying brain tumors. I subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, focusing on the role of autophagy in cellular homeostasis.

Since 2021, I have been working as a researcher in the Cardiovascular Research Group (IKM), where my work centers on mitochondrial biology and its degradation through autophagy. My research employs advanced human model systems, including human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cardiomyocytes and engineered heart tissue (EHT), to better understand cardiac function and disease mechanisms.

In addition to my research, I am actively involved in teaching and mentoring bachelor’s and master’s students, particularly those interested in pursuing cardiovascular research.

    Teaching

    I teach the Advanced Light Microscopy module in the Master’s course Advanced Methods in Experimental Biomedicine (MBI-3012).
    I also co-supervise Master’s and PhD students in the laboratory.
