Exploring the potential of combining low-dose radiotherapy with targeted radiotheranostics (TRT) in animal tumor models within the THERACAN project.

Research interests

For my PhD, I will be exploring the potential of combining low-dose radiotherapy with targeted radiotheranostics (TRT). TRT combines the diagnostic capabilities of nuclear medicine with the therapeutic potential of radiation-emitting isotopes, enabling both personalized diagnosis and treatment! In the diagnostic phase, molecular imaging techniques such as PET are used to visualize the distribution of radioactive compounds, enabling tumor detection and treatment planning. In the therapeutic phase, the same target is used to deliver radiation-emitting isotopes with “cell-killing” properties that selectively destroy cancer cells from within.
