- Professor in geology with responsibility of teaching master-level courses in sedimentology.
- Responsible for teaching historical and regional geology (from fall 2023).
- Former deputy director of 'the Research Centre for Arctic Petroleum Exploration (ARCEx)'

Research interests
Sedimentology and stratigraphy with a focus on the geology of Svalbard and NE Greenland and use these areas as large-scale field laboratories to understand the subsurface of the Barents Sea and adjacent basins.
- Process-based sedimentology focusing on understanding sediment transport from fluvial to deep-marine depositional environments
- Reconstruction of depositional environments and facies belts to understand and predict sediment distribution
- Sequence stratigraphy and factors controlling sedimentation and basin fill architectures
Teaching
Teaches the following courses: GEO-3112 (sedimentary processes and products) and Geo-3113 (field course in exogene geology). Will take over the teaching responsibility of GEO-2007 (historical nd regional geology) from the fall of 2023. Periodical teaching assistant in AG-323 (sequence stratigraphy) at UNIS.
