Wind Assessment in the Arctic Using Remote Sensing and Multimodal Analysis of Oceanic Eddies in the Marginal Ice Zone

My research focuses on several key areas in Arctic environmental monitoring. In particular, I am trying to assess wind patterns using remote sensing wind products, concentrating mostly on their evaluation and comparison with other data sources, including regional and global reanalysis, as well as in-situ measurements. This work enhances the understanding of wind dynamics crucial to Arctic climate fluctuations. Furthermore, I focus on observing and detecting oceanic eddies in the marginal ice zone using synthetic aperture radar and optical satellite data. These eddies play a vital role in heat and mass transport in the Arctic, and my work aims to improve their detection and characterization within ice-covered regions.

    Research interests

My main research interest lies within Earth Observation using Remote Sensing, with a particular focus on observing various phenomena with different sensors. Currently, I am working on wind assessment in the Arctic, focusing on SAR-based products. During my PhD, I concentrated mostly on developing a multimodal information selection method used to improve the performance of sea ice classification in the Arctic.
