Job description
I am a PhD candidate in computational chemistry, with Bjørn Olav Brandsdal as my main supervisor. My background is in computational biophysics. with an emphasis on statistical mechanics of molecular systems. I obtained my Master's degree from University of Guelph after obtaining my undergraduate degree from Memorial Unversity of Newfoundland. My work at UiT is part of the CUBE3 project, where I will be using computational chemistry methods to explore the evolutionary mechanisms by which enzymes adapt their structure and function to operate in cold environments. My project will place an emphasis on how the enthalpy-entropy balance of enzymes affects their stability and activity. The ultimate goal of my work is to be able to computationally implement systematic mutations into mesophilic enzymes to aid experimental rational enzyme design for industrial purposes.
