    Research interests

Main research interest is somatic morbidity and mortality in individuals with severe mental illness. The research is based on data from national registries on e.g. cardiovascular diseases and cancer, population-based studies (in particular The Tromsø Study)  for investigating tentative trajectories within the field of somatic and mental comorbidity, and clinical data for investigating different aspects of prevention and treatment of somatic diseases in patients with severe mental illness, as well as implementation of guidelines and treatment for better somatic health care (e.g. smoking cessation and physical activity). She is main supervisor for two Ph.D. students and one postdoc within this area, additionally she is main supervisor for a Ph.D. student working om a qualitative project on motivation and experiences among patients with severe mental illness who have applied for medication free treatment. She has ongoing collaboration with nation and international researchers and instituttions, with projects financed by The North Norwegian Health Authority, University Hospital of North Norway, UiT The Arctic University of Norway and/or The Research Council of Norway or EU.
