Student health and welfare
My main interests working as an associate professor at UiT is within cancer epidemiology and lifestyle factors with a special interest in physical activity and health. I am member of the research group of Systems Epidemiology and associated member of the research group Physical Activity and Public Health. Ongoing projects involve a randomized clinical trial (pilot-study) investigating pre-habilitation exercise intervention in prostate cancer patients (EXIPOX-Pilot study), colorectal cancer and modifiable lifestyle factors. Work package leader in “Healthy Choices and the Social gradient” with responsibility for a student health and welfare study and systematical integration of research activities into teaching. Other projects are physical activity in Sami and non-Sami populations in Norway, E-Health Survey in Norway – non-communicable diseases project, melanoma and physical activity in Norway, Oncologist and Exercise in Cancer Survivors, projects in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study.
Teaching: I am program leader for the international master program "Master in Public Health", have course leader responsibility for Protocol development and the Master Thesis. I teach, supervise and contribute as an internal and external examiner of students both undergraduates and master`s level at the Bachelor Program in Physiotherapy, Clinical Nutrition and courses at PhD level.
