Job description
The primary focus of my research is to deepen our understanding of the neurobiological basis of attention. I am especially interested in achieving mechanistic representations that explain how the brain gives rise to spontaneous thought processes such as mind wandering, by studying the interactions between subcortical nuclei in the deep brain, neuromodulatory systems, and cortical networks. To that end, I use a multidisciplinary approach that combines different imaging modalities and analysis techniques, including ultra-high field (7T) structural and functional MRI, pupillometry, cognitive modeling, and machine learning.
