Job description

Molecular ecology, population genetics, evolution, marine conservation, stock enhancement of marine and estuarine fisheries, reproductive and ichthyoplankton ecology. Currently, the main focus of my research is on cleaner fish used for salmon delousing in Norwegian salmon aquaculture; and stocking and restocking programs of fish and invertebrates.

    Research interests

    My main research interests are in molecular ecology and conservation genetics. I employ molecular approaches in combination with biological and environmental information to study how evolutionary, demographic, environmental and anthropogenic forces shape the genetic architecture of marine populations, and what the adaptive responses of the organims to those factors are. Over the last years, I have also been working on mating behavior and reproductive strategies of fish. In particular, I aim at improving our understanding of reproductive fitness, potential hybridization between wild and released organisms and the viability of their offspring.
