Job description

My PhD aims to enhance the understanding of the driving forces behind the size selection and catch pattern attained by the size sorting grids used in the Barents Sea. The results produced by this research will form an important contribution to the respective work packages in the FHF project ‘Utvikling av seleksjonssystemer i torsketrål’, which are of high interest to the commercial sector as well as regulatory bodies. Focus will be put on the discrepancies observed between selection of gadoid species and their respective MLS, how much of this may be attributed to selection by the separator grid and if selection can be better tailored to the MLSs by bettering our understanding of gadoid morphological and behavioural differences.
