    Research interests

I am working in intertidal and shallow subtidal habitats. The main objective of my research is to gain a mechanistic understanding on how environmental drivers modify species interactions in benthic near-shore ecosystems. I do so by setting up manipulative experiments in the field, but also under more controlled environmental conditions in the lab. My field sites are in Kongsfjorden (Svalbard) and along the rocky and sedimentary shores around Tromsø. The organisms included in my studies range from seaweeds to sessile invertebrates to mobile benthic invertebrates. I am interested in chemically-mediated trophic interactions which often but not exclusively spur my research interest. Current research includes

    diversity of arctic intertidal communities
the role of phenotypic plasticity in species interactions
    non-consumptive predator effects
    impact of grazers on photoautotrophs
