Incoming guest trainees: Erasmus+ traineeships from non-partner European universities
Guest Erasmus+ traineeships from non partner universities:f your home university has an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), you may be eligible to undertake training through an Erasmus traineeship at the UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
Duration of traineeships at UiT: the Erasmus Traineeship must be of a duration of minimum 2 months and maximum period for an Erasmus+ Traineeship at UiT is limited to one academic year (i.e. two semesters) per study cycle (BA, MA, or Ph.D.). This applies regardless of whether there were two non-contiguous semesters.
NOTE! If you would like to carry out a traineeship at a hospital in Northern Norway (Alta, Harstad, Hammerfest, Narvik, Tromsø, etc.), your home university must have an established exchange agreement with the Faculty of Health Sciences at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

We only accept applications from students coming from universities that have exchange agreements with the Fauclty of Health Sciences at UiT, and within the subject fields of Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic sciences, Physiotherapy, Social Education.
If your university does not have an exchange agreement with us, please DO NOT apply through this website.

- Traineeships in the Autumn semester (August - December): START 15 MARCH - DEADLINE 1 SEPTEMBER.
- Traineeships in the Spring semester (January - June): START 15 SEPTEMBER - DEADLINE 1 FEBRUARY.

- You must be registered at a higher education institution with an Erasmus Charter, and enrolled as a student and in studies leading to a recognised degree.
- Students who will have graduated at the point of undertaking their traineeship would not be eligible candidates unless selected by their home institution during their last year of study to carry out and complete the traineeship abroad within one year of obtaining their degree.
- Your home/sending institution must be a participating in Erasmus+ programme and established in a programme country. Se the list of the programme countries below.
- You must have a good command of English at B2 or C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- You must be physically onsite and actively participate in the traineeship activities.
List of Erasmus programme countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia and Türkiye.
If you are interested in a traineeship at UiT within the Erasmus+ programme, the best way is to explore for opportunities by directly contacting your possible supervisor at a department or research group at UiT. Please make sure to mention in your email that you are a Guest Erasmus+ for Traineeship and looking for a supervisor.
This means that you are responsible for the initial contact to the relevant professor, researcher or research group and for planning of your Erasmus Traineeship.
The Learning Agreement form is a binding document. It must be filled out, signed and dated by you and the responsible person at your home university before uploading it to the registration form.

UiT THE ARCTIC UNIVERSITY OF NORWAY DOES NOT ISSUE OR PROVIDE ANY INSURANCE TO COVER ACCIDENCE, LIABILITY, HEALTH, OR TRAVEL.
- Health insurance: All inbound exchange students must have health insurance to cover medical expenses during their stay in Norway.
- Accident and third party liability: All international students (inbound exchange students, joint-degree students and degree / programme students) at UiT The Arctic University of Norway must have adequate insurance coverage against theft, loss, illness, and liability before they leave home. We strongly advise you to buy travel insurance and to insure coverage of emergency travel home in the event of serious illness or any force majeure during your period of studies or traineeship at UiT.
Please note that rooms at the student housing is reserved ONLY for students who apply within the following deadlines:
31 MAY (for students commencing in the autumn semester: August to December) and30 NOVEMBER (for students commecning their traineeship in the spring semester: January to July).
It is your responsibility to check which type of visa (NON-EU-EEA students) or registration (EU-EEA students) you will need and how to get it. If you arrive at UiT The Arctic University of Norway without the appropriate visa which permits you to study in Norway for the duration of your exchange, you may face troubles with the local Immigration Office at the Police Department. In some cases, you may have to leave Norway and re-enter in order to get your immigration permission corrected.
VISA AND IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS (IMPORTANT!)
- Nordic citizens: If you are a Swedish, Danish, Icelandic, Finnish, or Norwegian citizen, all you need to do to live in Norway for more than six months, is to report a move to the National Registry: Tax Administration Office
- EU/EEA citizens: If they are going to study and live in Norway for more than three months, they must register their arrival on Students who are EU/EEA nationals - UDI
- Non-EU/EEA citizens: students with citizenship from countries outside the EU/EEA zone must apply for Study Permit: Want to apply: Study permit - UDI
