UDI rejection and appeal

UDI’s decisions are based on their regulations. Applications for study permit are processed based on individual application and documentation. Information on how to submit an appeal is available on this website: Appealing a decision - UDI

Please note that the Admission Office cannot intervene with the Norwegian Immigration regulations, as we are not part in these cases. You may ask your programme coordinator to issue a confirmation of support, but they are not obliged to do so.

A student who follows a normal course of study and earns 30 credits per semester is deemed to have good study progress.

If the student is behind in his/her studies, he/she must state the reason for the delay in their application to UDI. The reason for the delay must be documented as far as possible. Based on the scope and cause of the delay, an assessment will be made by UDI of whether or not the application for Study Permit can be renewed. Delays of up to one year can be accepted if strong reasons exist.

As a rule, a delay of more than one year that is not due to sickness certified by a doctor’s certificate or to maternity leave, will not be approved, and the application will be rejected.

Make sure to check the UDI' regulations for Study Permit: UDI 2010-101 Residence permits for students - UDI

If you are delayed in your studies, you must contact your programme coordinator at UiT. You can find the name of your programme coordinator in the Study Catalogue: English study catalogue – All programs | UiT
