Department of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences (acronym: IKM) has 418 employees in teaching and research positions. IKM has a close collaboration with the University Hospital of North Norway (Universitetssykehuset Nord-Norge/UNN) as well as other health trusts in Northern Norway.
The Department consists of 25 research groups, one of which is located at the Finnmark Hospital Trust in Hammerfest (Finnmarkssykehuset) and one which is located at UiT in Bodø, in addition to 32 teaching sections reflecting the clinic-structure at UNN, Nordland Hospital (Nordlandssykehuset) and Finnmarkssykehuset.
IKM is responsible for teaching clinical modules in Medicine, and the bachelor's and master's programs in Nutrition.
External funding currently accounts for 34% of the Department’s total budget. The Department has its administration consisting of an office manager and a study administration.
