The department is run by our Head of Department, leadership support, and a Ph.D. Coordinator. Additionally, the department has a managing team consisting of the programme directors.

Administrative services are given by the Unit for Department Administration. This unit takes care of issues like student contact, education and exams. They provide services related to finances, personnel matters and general support at the department level.  In addition, they provide leader support both to Head of Department and the programme directors. The department's safety representative is Hege Olaussen (deputy: Merete Andersen), both at campus Tromsø. The local safety representative for employees at campus Alta is Tina Lisø at IBS Alta.
