Clinical Cardiovascular Research Group
The major part of the experimental research is presently done at the “Large animal lab” shearing infrastructure with the gastroenterologists, basic cardiovascular research group and anesthesiologists. This laboratory has been well supported by the Health Authorities and is presently state-of the art and uniquely well equipped for large-animal research. The subsequent activity in this laboratory will depend on the ability of the senior researcher to attract funding from outside of the division of cardiothoracic and pulmonary diseases. The research related to patients with coronary disease and related projects, depend upon the relatively large population of patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease in Northern Norway and will also depend on our ability to attract funding, mainly to employ PhD students.
